Motors is inspired by Theorems of Nature, a collection of poems by J.-P. Courtois that blends science with poetry:
"Ultra-deep offshore crude oil lies at the bottom of the sea, where it is ultra-dark — so seeing doesn’t exist. It takes thirty years for light crude oil to degrade, but not its color, its chemistry, or their tail of effects. That’s a slow one, so it’s a long one. Marine blotter-plants absorb, transform, and give back — producing their own fixation without moving."
